9-1-1

As I sit here trying to type, my body is still shaking. We had some friends over tonight for dinner and to just have adult conversation. They have twins, a boy and a girl. I posted a pick of them before. They are now 6 months old, and the boy, Matthew Jr, has been in the hospital about once a month since he was born. Finally in January, the decided that he has tracheomalasia (sp?). Basically, he has a soft trachea. His windpipe tends to collapse, and he has been rushed by EMS twice to the hospital. Well, tonight makes the third time....

I had fed him while Betty got Leslie to sleep. He was on my shoulder burping when he started gasping. Betty immediately heard him and took him. He stopped breathing, she started CPR, and I called 9-1-1. It was only about 5 minutes before the fire truck got there, but it seemed like eternity. The baby was not breathing, was completely blue, and totally unresponsive. He was more limp than the baby dolls in the playroom. Jason and Matt had gone to the PX, so I also had to call them. Betty did about 3 rounds of CPR on him before she started to panic. This was thr third time that he stopped breathing like this. Both Matt and Betty had to take a CPR class after the last time before they let him out of the hospital. ANyway, fire truck go there, then the MP's, then the city ambulance. Just before they all arrived, he just started breathing again. The 9-1-1 operator stayed on the phone with me the whole time until they got here. SO, once they got here, they checked his vitals and got him hooked up with some oxygen. It was very frustrating that they kept asking about him choking on something. We kept telling them, NO he has this condition, but they didn't understand apparently. Anyway, they left with him in the ambulance, with Matt following in their truck. They said that they may take him to the Children's Hospital instead of the city one, so we are waiting to hear where they are.

We have the other 2 kids here. Ashley is 8, and was going to sleep over anyway, and Leslie, the other twin. All of the girls are getting settled for bed, Leslie is asleep, the boys are asleep, and I think I am going to crash pretty soon too. It has been very nerve-wrecking, stressful, emotional, and just plain out tiring tonight! That was the scariest thing I have ever seen in my life. I just hope I can sleep without those images in my head tonight.

TRU tantrums

LAst night, we went to TRU (Toys R Us, for you wondering what I am talking about). I have been wanting to get a water table for the back yard, and the last 2 times we went, they were out. Anyway, they finally had 1 left last night, so I got it and some more sand for the sand table. Usually the kids do pretty well in there. They LOVE looking and playing with the toys. They know that we can't always get something. PLUS, we had just come from Borders (bookstore like Book-A-Million) where everyone picked out a new book. So, we entered the store with hope that it would be a decent trip. We do actually have those sometimes. :P All went pretty good until we headed for the check out. Austin decided to crank it up and started pitching a huge fit. (Only a few people have heard me explain his fits, but let me tell you, they are horrible.) So, we started screaming, kicking, hitting, etc. Jason quickly grabbed him up and headed out the door while I waited for the stock boy to bring out our watertable. Of course, the stock boys there always take forver, so after probably 15 minutes, we headed to the truck. When I pened the back of the truck, Austin was still screaming. He had been screaming the whole time. Jason was frustrated. Austin was fighting so hard that he kicked Jason's finger when we was putting him in the truck, and Jason was actually thinking he may have broken it. So, a few more minutes of screaming and he finally quit. Needless to say, it was yet another "wonderful" TRU experience.

PIcture Perfect

Just one of the many times we went to the beach. This was on the Windward Side (east side), at Bellows Air Forse Station. It is just beautiful on that side of the island. Beautiful water, mountains, beaches...everything. Not to mention that buff hunk of a man that was running on the beach that day! :) Y'all come on over and we will show you around!

Brotherly Love

The picture says it all! If only they were this sweet ALL the time! LOL

bday pics

Here are some pics from Kailyn's bday. She just had a few friends spend the night. I made her cake. It was a quicky, but it was pretty good. It was a chocolate in the shape of lips. I had made white cupcakes too, so they served as the candle holders...9 cupcakes with 1 candle in each. It was pretty good. 1 down, 4 more bdays to make it through this year!

Fishing

MOVE OVER BILL DANCE!!!!

Here comes the Taylor twosome! LOL Jason had just gotten home from taking Jonathan fishing Sunday afternoon, and he was tinkering with his fishing poles, etc. The boys decided to get some practice with their fishing techniques! Jason grabbed the camera, and these were just adorable! They love to go fishing, but they do get a little bored after a litle while. Jason did catch a big puffer fish sunday. He said that Jonathan ran away as fast as he could from it. He said it was a good 5-6 pounds. He wasn't quite sure what to do with it himself! He was able to get it unhooked with a pair of plyers, and they watched it swim away. (By the way, he has yet to bring any fish home, so I gotta wonder if he has really caught anything! LOL)

K's bday

Today is Kailyn's 9th bday. Hard to beleive that she is 9 years old! She had a couple of friends sleep over last night. They are all awake now, so I am off to the kitch to make breakfast! Will post a few pics later.

Happy Birthday Kailyn-poo!

sick and tired of being sick and tired

I am so tired of being sick, and having sick kids! It has been 3 weeks since we have been illness-free in this house. It al started with the stomach flu 3 weeks ago. Austin, Jonathan, Megan, and I had it. It was a rough one too. Then the runny noses started, with the nasty coughing joining in. Theboys got it first, then I got a round of it too. Bad thing is that we have had it for 2 weeks now. Theboys have both been to the doctor and finally got put on antibiotics this weeks since it has been so long. Then, they got pink-eye this week. The boys and Megan have been fighting with it for a few days. Austin seems to be the worse. He fights the eye drops, so he is probably not getting enough of it to kick it. It is such a struggle to hold him down and put them in. But he is so pitiful when he wakes up in the morning with BOTH eyes crusted shut. I am feeling a little better, but my head is still congested. It just won't go away!!! I don't wish being sick on anyone...

this is why they call it "The Rainbow State"

Here is a pic of a beautiful rainbow seen from our yard about 2 weeks ago. It was so pretty! We all just get so excited when we can see the whole rainbow. Yeah, corny but I don't care!!! LOL

whale watching

Yesterday, we were driving around the island again. We do this pretty regularly. It is so beautiful, and it looks different depending on when you do it, which direction you are going, the weather, etc. So, this time, we rounded the corner on the windward side (east coast), and we saw some humpback whales! It was so cool! They were a good distance away, but you could see them rounding up the water, and blowing out their blowholes. It was so neat! Not just everyone can say that they have seen humpback whales swimming in the ocean in the ocean! LOL We pulled over and watched them for a few minutes. What an experience!
