This is a tree in our front yard. One day about lunchtime, one of the HUGE sections of it fell. And I mean, it just fell! We heard "crack, pop, crack....BOOM!" and it was on the ground. Now, let me tell you about this tree. It is huge. It is probably 15-20 feet around. The main trunk splits off into about 6 or 7 "normal-sized" trunks. It was one of the "normal-sized" trunks that fell. Anyway, there were 2 kids caught UNDER the tree when it fell! (not my kids, thank goodness) One little girl happened to get caught in a fork in the tree, and was basically not even touched. The little boy was hit on the top of the head and pushed down to the ground. Luckily, he got pulled out and was fine. Just had a goose-egg on his head. We called EMS, the MP's, housing, maintenance. I guess when we called it in, they relayed it as a fallen branch, so they all took their time getting here. Once they arrived, they were ALL in shock by the size of this "branch". Anyway, everyone is fine and the tree has now been inspected and trimmed a bit.
This is the sidewalk outside our house. You can see how far the tree fell across the sidewalk.
And this is where the tip of the tree landed....on MY TRUCK! Luckily, it was just the tips of the branches and leaves, so no damage was done. We did, however fill out reports with housing and the MP's just to be on the safe side.
