A few short minutes

can make such a HUGE difference. Jason called tonight just as I was trying to get Megan and Jonathan to bed. Both of them wanted to talk to him, so I passed the phone over to them. It had such a calming affect on them. Once they talked to him, and I got off the phone, they went right to bed. They miss their daddy so much. I breaks my heart, and makes me smile at the same time, to see how much they love and miss him...

Of course, just getting to hear his voice is wonderful for me too. Even though it was just a short call this time, just to hear him breathe and know that he is okay is the best thing in the world. I love being able to talk to him, email him, IM with him. The technology that we have now is great for keeping in touch. Its hard ti believe that even just 12 yrs ago when he was in Korea, we woudl only talk about every 2 weeks, and we didn't even own a computer then! I dont know how we survived that year apart! It is kindda crazy to think that, once this deployment is over, we will have spent over 3 yrs apart due to hardship tour/deployments. What is even more crazy is that we have been together for 16 years this summer...that is literally half my life!!! We are so blessed!

Look out world...Here come the ninjas!

I LOVE Parents Night Out!

Last night was only our second experience with Parents Night Out, but I love it already! After the week of sickness and the 2 weeks of Spring Break, I was in SOOOOO much need of a night kid-free. So the kids got dropped off and the girls, uh, I guess "ladies", and I went out to eat at Chili's then back to my house to hang out and play Singstar. Here are a couple of our group pics:
First, here is our nice pic. Showing how we are mature, responsible women....

And then here is our wild and crazy Girls Night Out picture! LOL (Natali had just woke up, so she was not completely thrilled with out craziness!)Can't wait until the next one! (PNO is twice a month here. Man, why did it take me this long to discovery it???)

pool pics

Here's a few more pics from our pool trip last week. We really did have a good time. Kindda strange, i guess, to be going to the pool instead of the beach in Hawaii....but ya gotta change it up sometimes! LOL

Here's Austin playing on the pool steps. He was such a fish! He loved the water! And here is Austin and Jonathan in the "deep end" of the pool. Jonathan was not real sure about it at first, but once he got in and really KNEW that he would float in his life jacket, he loved it too. They were so funny, swimming all over the place. Before we left for the day, they were both even jumping in with their life jackets on!
One of the good things about the Hale Koa, is that every hour they blow the whistle and all the kids have to get out for a break. It is adult swim time for 15 minutes. It is a great idea to let the kids have time for a potty-break, snack break, and of course a few minutes for mommy to have some peaceful swim time! Here are some of the kids sitting on the side anxiously waiting for the whistle to blow so thay can jump back in! LOL
(left to right: big Austin, Aidan, Kailyn, Rachel, Kylee, and Megan. Allison had taken my Austin and Jonathan to the bathroom)

Easter sunday #2

Here are some pics of our Easter Dinner. We all got together at Jamie's house. There ended up being 7 adults and 13 kids when it was all over. Here is our spread of food: And the dessert table:
Here is a group of most of the kids checking out their loot after the egg hunt.
Jonathan and Aidan sitting on the trampoline. They were trying to hide from the camera, but I got them!!! LOL
Big Sissy, Allison, helping Austin open an egg. They all had so much candy it was ridiculous!
It was a great Easter, despite all of us being without husbands. I sure have a good group of friends to help ease the pain and time of this deployment! Don't know what I would do without you all!!! (And you know, we didn't even get a pic of all of us. We must do that next time!)

Easter sunday #1

Easter 2008
Here is the loot from the Easter bunny! At church, the kids had egg hunts. The big kids had an egg hunt for resurrection eggs. There is Megan in the middle of the field.
And here is Kailyn trying to find all of her eggs too.
Austin was among the little kids that had just a fun egg hunt around the playgroud area. He had fun finding his eggs! He was proud of his treasures!
Then during service, the kids from chuldren's church sang a song in front of the whole chuch. It is so amazing how big they all are! There is Jonathan, Megan, and Kailyn. (see the video clip in a previous post!)

my superstars

Easter Sunday, the kids at church sang a song at the beginning of service. Megan, Kailyn, and Jonathan were in the group singing. Here they are!

Another Spring Break adventure

Here we are on another Spring Break adventure. Jamie, Megan, and I took all the kids to see Horton Hears a Who. It was really cute! That's all the kids, minus Austin and Rachel, in front of the movie poster. And below is Aidan, Jonathan, Kailyn, Rachel, Megan, and Austin in the back of my truck. Allison, Jamie, and I were in the front seat. It was quite a packed truck! The KRZBUS (my liscense plate! LOL) is always on the go!!!

Beautiful Soul

This is my first attempt at posting a video. This is Jonathan singing "Beautiful Soul" on the PS2 Singstar. Let me know if you can see and hear it!

Plumbing probs

The other day, i had an overflowing/leaking toilet in my downstairs bathroom. I thought it was just stopped up, so I tried to plunge it and all it did was push water up and out of the base of the toilet and all over my floor. I called maintenance and they sent someone out. Now our maintenance guys are pretty useless. There is 1 or 2 that are ok, but overall, they really stink. Anyway, he flushed it once and said that it was fine. Of course, on the first flush it didn't do anything. There were wet towels all over the floor, so obviously they HAD been a problem. He flushed it again, and lo and behold, the water started coming out the base of the toilet again. He was dumbfounded (with a big stress on DUMB!), so he called in for the civilian plumber to come out. By then, it was already after 7pm, so I really wasn't sure when someone woul dbe coming to fix my toilet. The new plumber guy called and was at my house about 8:30pm. Here are some pics of his work...

Apparently, it was some serious SH**! Literally!!! LOL He had to take the toilet out and bring in this big power tool on wheels. It was quite a sight. He was in my bathroom until about 11pm. Luckily for him, Jamie was at my house that night and we were testing out the new Singstar 90's game on the PS2. We kept him pretty well entertained with our singing all night. LOL

A day at the Hale Koa

Today, we all went downtown to the Hale Koa Hotel. The Blue Star Card program (a program with discounts and special things for deployed families) had a bus trip there. Yes, we can go anytime we is just downtown and is free to use the facilites, but it is great when you can do it without the expense of gas and the hassle of dealing with traffic, and of course there is always parking to contend with. Anyway, we rode the chartered bus down and back today. We stayed by the pool for the whole time. The kids did great! They all loved it. The boys started in the kiddie pool and the girls hit the "big" pool. It worked out well until a baby had a poop-leaking diaper in the kiddie pool. So the kiddie pool got closed and we had to head to the big pool. The boys loved it as well! It was such a good day!
Naturally, we rode the short bus to Waikiki...
I even enjoyed a strawberry daquiry while sittin beside the pool! I almost feel spoiled!!!
Austin posing by the kiddie pool.
Megan really enjoyed being a big girl playing in the pool. She even went into the 5 feet side of the pool!
Kailyn and Allison actually getting along together! Had to get a picture of that!
On the way home, everyone except Kailyn fell asleep. Here are my sleeping beauties!
AustinMeganAnd even Allison! All in all, it was a great success! We will definitely be doing it again!

"Biker" boy

On friday, I went out to eat lunch with Jamie and Megan. It was our last lunch together before Spring Break started. We had Ruby Tuesdays. It was a nice lunch. When we were leaving, Austin nd Rachel started hopping on this fire hydrant and pretending it was different things. Austin said it was a motorcycle! Here he is revving his engine! LOL

Picture preview

I finally took the kids to have pictures taken again. It has been nearly 2 years since we have had them taken. I bought then spring colored tops to coordinate each other and was hoping for the best! They actually did really good and we got some great shots. I will have them back the first week in April. In the meantime, here are a few shots of them before and after our photo session. Allison was keeping everyone busy while I was choosing and paying for the pictures. I must say, she has a pretty good eye for taking pictures. She got some good shots! LOL

Austin was accepted into the Special Needs Pre-K at the elementary school today! YAY! We have been going through testing and observations for the past 6 weeks to determine if he would qualify for it. PTL he did!!! He will be starting school when the kids go back after Spring Break.

Kailyn's 10th bday

Today was Kailyn's 10th bday. We had her party a week and a half ago, but she still wanted to take cupcakes to school. So, I sent her with mini-cupcakes and juice boxes for her class today. Then afer school, she opened presents and we went out to eat. She picked to go to Sizzler. Why she picked Sizzler, I don't know...she ordered a grilled cheese sandwich! LOL Anyway, we had a nice supper. I made everyone stop outside at the Sizzler sign on the way out for a bday pic. Here's the crew...(check out Jonathan's shirt!)
Kailyn got flowers from Jason for her bday. She was so excited to have them here when she got home from school. She is here posing with them.

She loves her daddy!

Parent's Night Out

On saturday, a group of my girl friends all got together and put the kids in Parent's Night Out. It was my first time utilizing it. I was a little unsure about leaving Austin there all night, but I knew the other kids would be fine. As it turned out, they all did pretty good. Austin stayed in the pre-school class at the Child Development Center (CDC), and the bigger kids stayed at the Youth Center. The bigger kids got it made there! They have a computer room, fooseball tables, air hockey, movies, basketball, and all kinds of other things. It is really a kids dream. Once they all got dropped off, the girls all met at my house. We grilled steaks, had a fire in the firepit, made some smoothies, and just had a great night. We talked and laughed and talked some more. It was so much fun! I haven't done that in a long time! Before, we knew it, the clock was striking 10 pm. We cleaned up and ran to get the kids picked up by 11pm. The big kids were just fine and had a great time. Austin was ALSEEP!!! I just scooped him up, took him home, and put him right in the bed. It was great! I can't wait to do it again! Parent's Night we come! LOL Me, Robyn, Jamie, Kim, and Carissa roasting marshmellows in out fire!

Moving and shaking

One of my nervous habits is moving furniture and re-arranging. With that in mind, Jamie and I have decided that March is home-improvement month. This is what my living room looks like right now.
And this is my dining room.
I am really liking the change. It seems to be working out pretty well. My next project is to replace the blinds in the playroom. They have been up for a year now and with the screen windows (no glass), they have gotten really nasty. I think it is best to just replace them. Just call me Mrs.Homemaker!

March 9 beach day

We all loaded up and went to the beach on sunday. It was the first time since Jason left that we went to the beach (excpet for that 1 time when my mom and Herb was visiting). We went with a couple of friends, so it was not exactly a solo trip. But we all have deployed spouses, so it was just us girls and all of our kids. Here are some shots of the fun:

This is my note to my love...

Here is Jonathan pulling Austin on the boogie-board. All the kids really got into the water and had a good time. We did have to pull a few of the kids out of the waves a few times, but overall it was a lot of fun.
Austin and Rachel playing in the sand.
Allison and Kailyn playing with the inner-tube.
Jonathan was standing on a boogie-board on the sane pretending to be surfing! LOL He is such a stud!
My beach-beauty! Kailyn striking a pose for the camera.
It is not just any day (unless you live in paradise like us!) that you can fall asleep in a scene like this! Austin couldn't hang in there with everyone else playing. He fell asleep and caught some z's on the blanket.
This is a worn out little man!
